About

In the typical Bench-Racing session amongst friends and colleagues, a question is often posed that is difficult to answer. It's a simple question, but more often than not a consensus is not reached. The question: Who would win? I found that the ability to look up stats for professional Motocross and Supercross to be extremely lacking, especially compared to how your conventional "Stick and Ball" sports make their stats available. The previously existing methods were often incomplete, inaccurate, or just plain non-existent. I wanted a simple, yet comprehensive tool to be able to see stats for individual riders and compare the stats side by side, but unfortunately this tool was non-existent.

So I made one.

Welcome to Bench Racers MX.

The database goes as far back as 1972 and includes the results for every AMA sanctioned Pro Race, Motocross, Supercross, and the new Super-Motocross. The data is analyzed in a program written to assign a numeric score that changes based on the rider's results. Behind the scenes, the program looks at each rider's finish and who they did and did not beat to determine how much to change their score after each race. This means that a rider who wins a race filled with All-Stars and similarly matched opponents will climb in the rankings much higher than the rider who wins a race when 7 of the top 10 guys are out with injuries.

For clarity: the program does not look at an individual Moto, Heat, Triple-Crown Start, or LCQ; It's only concern is overall or main event finishes. It also does not include non-AMA races such as Monster Cups, WSX, or MXDN.

Lets say you want to see a full list of a particular rider's stats. Simply go to Individual Analysis, Select the rider from the list and you will be presented with a comprehensive list of stats, and a graph showing the riders score changing over time.

If you want to know how two riders stack up against each other, head over to Who Would Win. This page compares two riders' history and does a prediction to try and predict who would win in a theoretical "All-Things-Being-Equal" race, then presents both riders stats in a side-by-side comparison style.

As I mentioned, this entire database and predictive tools have been published and made accessible for free by myself. However, donations are welcomed and appreciated, just click Buy Me A Beer to find out how. The more profitable this becomes, the more time I can spend improving it!

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you enjoy!
